Der DVB Viewer ist ein Rekorder-Tool, mit dem man - entsprechende Hardware vorausgesetzt - digitale. Medienplayer, der mit entsprechenden Codecs eine Vielzahl an Medienformaten abspielen kann. Bester mir bekannter DVB-Viewer.

I may be missing something here...I have the Pinnacle 7010ix card up and running and it works OK with the supplied application. Can't get BBC HD though which I guess is by design, so I need DVBviewer or Powercinema 5 I presume.
Is there a demo version of DVBViewer, seems to me that you need to pay up front on the web site? Has anybody tried PowerCinema 5 with this card?

- #2I got BBC HD with Mediaportal.
However on selecting the channel MP crashed. Might have been related to AMD or the ultra slow CPU in the 7010ix rig up.
I've not tried DVBviewer as did not want to pay for something that I might not use.
Nero seems to find very few channels - #3DVBViewer for €15 is absolutely excellent value. I love it. I enjoyed both matches on BBC HD yesterday without a stutter - the recent versions have been getting better and better and you pay for a lifetime license.

Must admit i've tried them all and can't see past DVB Viewer. Have to agree with AM, best £12 i've spent in a long time.
I would post my flickr URL with HD grabs using DVB Viewer software but I promised andybno1 i wouldn't. - #5Is it possible to record the HD stream with DVBViewer...or PowerCinema for that matter.
- #6Yes DVB Viewer records the stream if you want to directly to your hard drive. Even BBC HD or ITV HD
PowerCinema records too but after a couple of uses of that software it was quickly binned as i didn't like it one bit.
Too clunky for me and frequent freezing.
PowerCinema wasn't much use to me really anyway as i already have Vista Media Centre. (Used all the time with recording freeview)
PowerCinema does support HD though and you get it's supplied H.264 codec. Media Centre currently has no support for HD hence why i'm using and loving DVB Viewer. - #7Yes DVB Viewer records the stream if you want to directly to your hard drive. Even BBC HD or ITV HD

Can't argue with any of that. After messing around with various different bits of software I have finally given up and gone back to VMC and DVB Viewer.
Should of listened to Snoods all along.:D
I have seen rumours of an update to VMC codenamed Fiji. Which should have HD support but I'm not holding my breath.:( - #8
Thats interesting and would probably be my prefered solution if it works. As I am not in a hurry I may wait a few months and see if this materialises. I have Sky+ and Foxsat at the moment and I guess there won't be too much HD on Freesat worth recording during the summer. Also by the autumn we will know which way Sky are going to jump with their HD Box pricing....if anywhere.I have seen rumours of an update to VMC codenamed Fiji. Thanks for your thoughts guys, if I desperately need to record HD I will go the DVBViewer route. - #9Is it possible to record the HD stream with DVBViewer...or PowerCinema for that matter.
I would definitely stick with DVBviewer for HD recording.
It is very easy to process these recordings for AVCHD Blu-Ray playback.

Don't forget, that £12 also gets you access to the members area and dozens of other DVBViewer related goodies such as the Transport Stream Player (which seamlessly cuts and saves TS and MPG files) and Transedit which allows you to scan all the transmitted channels on the Astra Satellites and tweak the settings etc. It was this facility that allowed me to pick up the 'hidden' ITV HD channel. Well worth the money.

Are these extra's free, I would be particularly interested in the video editor.DVBViewer is superb value for money.

Yep.
The only thing I found when purchasing DVBviewer was that you have to wait for a response via E-Mail from the creator. I was a bit concerned a few years back when I first bought it but that was just the old cynic in me. The software is all genuine and a real bargain. It takes from a few minutes to a few hours after payment to get an E-Mail reply and then you get given an ID and password to the Member's page where all the various softwares (latest versions etc) are downloadable. There's also a forum for support.
Go for it!!
